Useless

about

This song was agonized over for the Lost/Found sessions and I tried so desperately to fit it into that album, but I just knew it didn’t belong there. It was hard, but sometimes you have to let go, and I think it made the album better as a result. After “Metanoia” was released, I still felt there were a lot of things in this song that I liked. A lot of the sound design was really great and I liked the feel of it. After a couple of years of patiently sitting on my hard drive, I returned to it, cleared out a whole lot of sound and it sounded good to me again. I think that feeling of isolation and searching was what i wanted to set the tone for this EP.

lyrics

The city's a vampire
The ghosts are my friends
What spirit will take me
When I'm caught in the end

The city's creeping
Filled with spiders
Casting and creeping
Who knows where we've been

Useless
Maybe everyone can see this
Maybe I seem to miss this
Everything makes no sense now
At least not to me

When you start looking down these alleys
Do the songs start to disappear?
Is there no problem
Or just follow it?
Will you stay for another year?

You can have those all in a song
I wasn't there when you needed me strong

Useless
Maybe everyone can see this
Maybe I seem to miss this
Everything makes no sense now
At least not to me
