Falling

from Liminal by Samuel Joseph Kim

about

Another song that just won’t go away. I wrote this originally for a Mount Vermont track, but I also had this song that I tried releasing as a B-side for the “Winter House” album. I felt like it should have been on that album, but at the same time, I wasn’t thrilled with the lyrics I came up with. I gave it another try to fuse the lyrics of “Falling” with this song, and was surprised at how it fit together so naturally. A lot of this song is about trying to remember your first love when you feel lost. The album “Lost/Found” explored a lot of that tension of feeling disoriented and sure of where you are all at the same time. “Liminal” is a bit more about trying to articulate what it’s like to feel like you can’t ground yourself in anything.

lyrics

I've got a struggle inside
Ringing like it did back then
Can't hide it
Can't hide it

It's tempting me with its beat
The melody on repeat
How did I lose it?
Can't deny it

Oh, you wanted this all for love
Falling, falling, falling

These thoughts won't let me sleep
You can't just do this for me
Can't hide it
Don't lie to me

Oh, you wanted this all for love
Falling, falling, falling

Falling, falling, falling
Love always falling
