This original version actually goes back 20 years! It was a cool recording with just piano, drums and multiple violin takes. That was before I released under “Samuel Joseph Kim”. It was my first album that was recorded at the Paradox Theater. Maybe I’ll release it again one day. Maybe I won’t. I gave it a remix ten years later as a low key release on my Bandcamp page but wished it would get more exposure to all the streaming services, so I touched it up a bit with newer plug-ins and recording gear. Something about it was poignant then and I still appreciate it now. In the newer recording I felt like it was important to add the phrase, “Don’t be afraid.” My wife Rhea is singing that along with me with some heavily affected effects to our voices. Still feels so relevant in light of all the fear that I feel is surrounding us all in these times.
